WHERE DOES THE WORD "COQ'TAIL" COME FROM?
We love this question because it takes us back to the origins of the word "Cocktail", through three legends:
- Peacock Tail: The word would come from "Peacock Tail", referring to the bright colors of the syrups and ingredients used.
- Apothecary Peychaud: In New Orleans, this Frenchman mixed his bitters with Brandy in a "coquetier". The word is said to have evolved into "cocktail".
- Cola de Gallo: In Mexico, drinks were stirred with roots called "Rooster's Tail".
